QNAP TS‑351-4G 3-Bay Diskless NAS
Couldn't be happier with my QNAP TS-453D. Upgraded from a TS-251A and it's night and day. I upgraded memory to 16 GB (I know tech specs say 8 GB max, but it does 16 GB no issue) and installed two 1 TB NVMe SSDs as JBOD via a QM2 card on the PCIe slot; plus 4x4 TB HDDs in RAID10. I put key access files (photos, etc.) on the SSD and used Hybrid Backup to back them up to the HDDs at night, plus the regular network backups going directly to the HDDs, and it's all working great and crazy fast with the upgraded processor, large memory, and SSDs for "hot storage". SimplyNAS confirmed in stock, shipped quickly. I had the NAS in 4 days only because Fedex delayed for a day (who knows way, the thing just sat for 30+ hours at one of their waypoints).
Have DS920+ with 4 16TB Toshiba drives, excellent performance and quick service from Simplynas. Thanks
Fully satisfied with my purchase. Came fast and in great condition. A+++
Got it shipped out the same day and it arrived when promised. The NAS itself is amazing. I've got a TS-659 and TS-670Pro so I was looking for something that can stream 4K via Plex. This NAS (the TVS-8762XT-i5-16G) fits the bill. I removed the Thunderbold adapter and put in a MSI GTX 1050 TI 4GT LP video card. I can stream native 4K (ripped from UHD Blu-Ray) to anything that will play it (I have 2 Sony 4K televisions.) Great NAS!
I could not be happier with this purchase. This NAS handles all of my scenarios perfectly. I have a weather station that reports to WeatherUnderground, and the Windows 10 VM I was able to stand up on the NAS can do this for me without the need of another PC. I was also able to easily setup native scheduled backups to an external drive without having to write my own scripts. And PLEX works extremely well for my 1080p library. This little thing really does it all!
I'd previously been using ceph in proxmox to handle my network storage however i had regular issues with it due to the small scale of my setup migrating to this nas was super easy and it works great. Also the customer service from simplynas was very prompt and amazing.
We needed to retire our old server and use a NAS/SAN for storage only, but needed to have a high availability solution. Simplynas suggested SA3400 for HA have it running for over a month came tested and was up within hours! Great service, will buy again
Well worth the price, IMO. HDD's installed, RAID configured, and tested. All the buyer need do is connect and turn it on, and sign in. This being my first NAS there were a few challenges waiting for me, but the part taken care of by the NASBIT Service was not one (or several) of them. I would recommend it to anyone buying a NAS, whether its their first or their tenth.
This is a great product. Everything works just as I wanted and I love the ability to give access to someone outside of my network and to stream over the internet when needed.
Asked a question and received a reply back very quickly that had me placing an order right away. Received the NAS quickly and in perfect shape, and had the NAS up and running within an hour. Enjoyed the whole experience!
I added TVS-872XT to my old TX-659 Pro+ which has served me well but I needed more capacity. The 659 is now a dedicated TimeMachine backup and photo SD card backup. I changed both NAD to RAID-6 (from RAID-10); started using rsync, photo and music station on the new NAS. Everything went smoothly and works great. Highly recommended.
I was shocked at the turn around time for the product I ordered, especially with our current global situation. Packaging was superb, outer box took a tiny bit of damage and did not reach the box containing my product. Thanks for everything!!
I have several quite old Thecus NAS boxes and an 8 X 8TB QNAP NAS. The I added an 8 X 10TB QNAP. Originally, I order a 5 X 10TB unit plus 5 extra 10TB drives. I added 3 X 10TB drives to make up the 8 X 10TB QNAP. ONLY 54 hours to initialize. Both QNAP units for SimplyNAS have run flawlessly; holding my breath on the 15 year old Thecus boxes!! I'm a retired Computer Controlled Automated Test Engineer; I now hobby digital photography and video. LOTS of storage needed, LOTS of post-processing. I have recommended SimplyNAS to several old colleagues.
I ordered this and got the next model up instead, without being told. The good news is that they are basically interchangeable. Came right away when other companies were having trouble shipping it within 2 weeks. Saved my butt, thank you SimplyNAS... I will be ordering from you again.
Ordered 6 1Seagate Exos X10 drives and 2 6TB drives. All were shipped quickly and very securely with the drives isolated from each other in a large well padded box. I order NAS's and accessories from SimplyNAS because they put the care and time into delivering a good customer experience. I recommend them to anyone looking for a NAS system or looking for additional/larger/replacement drives
Just what I needed to finish my home network drives came installed and just what asked for. They are working great bit the NAS device and the drives. Great service.
System work great with lots of options needed to fulfill all our needs
I received my QNAP TVS-872xt quickly, it came as a bundle with (2) 1tb M.2 NVMe cards, they were the lowest published price and highest capacity M.2 card combo that I found. I added (5) 14tb hard drives. Simply NAS put it all together, set up the RAID per my instructions, and tested the setup prior to sending it to me. It was professionally packaged with no physical damage. I am very pleased with my purchase, and price.
5 Stars for TVS-672N and SimplyNas.
This is my first "true NAS" and it's SIMPLY GREAT!
Back 12 years ago, I built a WHS system using a small enclosure, with an Intel® Desktop Board D510MO that came with an Atom CPU and added 4 GB DDR2 memory. All I needed was something that I could backup several home computers, was quiet and had a familiar OS (Windows). WHS-V1 went away and I migrated the system to WHS-2011. It was great. I started using DLNA for my multimedia. Easy to use, easy to fix, easy on the pocketbook. Then MS decided to end the home server product line. About that time, I found PLEX. Well, an Atom processor with 4GB memory on an obsolete OS can do only so much. I decided to convert to WSE2016 in late 2018 and started my quest to find a real NAS for the home. I started looking and didn't find anything that would quite fill the bill. Most products couldn't handle the HDMI-4K on the low end and those that could were on the high end. I keep watching and the TVS-682/882 was very expensive and a bit behind with the CPU. I watched and waited and finally Aug 2019 the announcement came about the TVS-672N series with better CPU and much lower price. Just a matter of waiting for it to be released. Limp along with 1 rebuild of the WSE-2016 OS due to license expiring until the unit was available. Well, it came and no one seemed to buy it. I wanted to see the reviews. SimplyNAS kicked in 2 free M.2 which made the deal very sweet. Finally, I decided to wait no more and pull the trigger. Ordered the unit and decided to watch all the YouTubes on the unit I could find and the OS.
Now for the review:
Purchase- The purchase was easy. Plunk down Visa card and wait couple of days for the unit to arrive. FedEx delivered it ground with signed signature (fantastic). Was here to receive the unit on Thursday. It was double boxed with extra foam inside the inner box. They was no damage what-so-ever.
Installation- Hooked up an ethernet & power cable, installed 6TB hard drive and hit the power switch. About 12 minutes later after entering some easy questions, it was up and running. One quick OS update, another 12 minutes, and I was ready to convert over from WSE to my new NAS. Took about 4 hours to copy over my data. I was surprised at how quick it was to get the system up and running.. About 1 hour, I had most everything setup and configured. My first WHS system, took me about 8 hours to get up and running. Most of that time was spent on downloading software, finding drivers, creating installation disk and then running thru all the updates that had to be done. With QTS and QNAP system, it's very easy. I give the installation setup a 5+ star rating.
Hardware- Appears to be very good. I especially like the easy way you can insert/remove a hard drive. No more opening the case to replace a failed hard drive. The unit came with the M.2 chips already installed. Another PLUS! I now have 6 drive bays where my older unit had only 2 internal drive bays. Before I had no RAID and now I do. Yea! I am looking forward to the QTier feature. The 4GB ram is enough to get it up and doing most things but I decided to expand to 32GB. Why 32? I expect this unit to last me for the next 15 years. For now, I give the hardware a 5 rating.
OS- QTS 4.4.1 vs Windows (WHS/WSE). Very easy to use. Initial install has very few but important APPS. Windows was getting ready to drop the Essentials Desktop in 2016 but decided to keep it; However, it is now EOL. That was the primary reason why I decided to drop Windows. QTS fills the bill. Appears that it uses very little of memory but packs a big punch. All the utilities are there onscreen in an easy to use, easy to find location. The only thing I found lacking was Windows client backup. Sure there are ways to do it without 3rd party addins but that is the primary function I was buying this 4. WHS client backup was the slickest thing that MS ever did, IMO. Anyway, I ended up finding Xopero and using the free for 3 license to backup my Windows PC's. I have 4 PC's but the 4th unit is for grandchild and can be easily rebuilt. No problem if it is down fora couple of days. Reluctantly, I have to give QTS a 4.5 rating.
Overall- Seems to be a great product at a good price for what it does. SimplyNAS is a good company to buy this product from. They saved me tax on this product. Another reason to use them if you can. The two 1 TB M.2 freebies makes it a no-brainer. If you are looking, give this a serious consideration.
A 4 core i3 64GByte powerhous for all my Plex and VM needs.
This was my first purchase and it was a great experience. The bundle with the 2 free Crucial 1TB M.2 NVMe cards was something no one else offered and the cards came pre-installed.
I am very impressed with the speed of this delivery as well as the overall experience and customer service. I look forward to doing more with your company in the future.
Thank you, Ron Hassell
Our non-profit data has never felt safer than before..
We wanted to get an all flash based database development sever for 20+ users - our lowest cost we could find was over 35k+ when we discussed with Simplynas we asked if we could get 100TB All Flash NAS with good performance but under 35k+. The solution they provided us was cost effective and we are more than impressed. Shortly we will go for a second one, no headaches all tested with no extra cost - worked out of the box within minutes. Its not a wonder so many people use their pre-sales advice and testing services. Highly recommend
Recommended by Simplynas with hybrid 16TB six drives and 1.92 Micron SSD all four works well after 4 months we need more drives so will go back to simplynas. Able to edit CAD/CAM files on the fly - works well with autocad with our 12 users.
Everything is working as expected.
Well recommended by SimplyNAS, needed a desktop for a special project with ZFS and Thunderbolt if possible, could not find a similar solution - simplynas helped to assure us as we had heard of QSAN before - loaded with 16TB Exos drives brillaint has worked well and the performance is impressive may get a few more for other departments. Thanks Simplynas
Used my white gloves to plug these into my Synology. Rebooted, told DSM what they were for, then let RAID churn. Two days later, I checked my volume. Perfect!
We purchased with 14 bays of 7.6TB SSD's recommended by simplynas - integrated and tested by them. surpassed our performance expectations, and the recommendation was important as we were looking at the other cheaper options and we would not have had the requisite performance. But again from them. Thank you!
This NAS was purchased to replace an earlier TS-453 unit. The new QNAP TS-473-16G 40TB is now working exceptionally well with very good performance. However, on arrival it was a rather unreliable NAS frequently dropping off line and becoming non responsive to any user commands. After talking to SimplyNAS customer service and technical support, and attempting to resolve the problems, they arranged a conference call with QNAP technical support. QNAP support called me promptly at the designated time and set up Team Viewer to allow remote diagnosis of the QNAP TS-473-16G 40TB NAS. After conferring with the tech QAP tech team, the support technician said the two Kingston 8GB DIMMS had been incorrectly installed by Simply NAS in DIMM locations 2 and 3. After changing the DIMM locations to 1 and 3 and powering on the NAS, there have been zero problems over the last five days compared to just a few hours of previous operation. This DIMM configuration issue must have been an accidental error when Simply NAS installed the two Kingston 8GB DIMMS replacing the 4GB DIMMS originally provided by QNAP.
While this was a very inconvenient problem for a customer to resolve, I believe Simply NAS technical and customer support was excellent in helping resolve this matter. They provide great value and support services.
If the NAS problem had not been easily resolved, the star rating would have been close to zero.
The synology SA3400 was recommend and has been a great buy for us. thanks
Almost too easy to expand my exist Synology server.
The price, performance and service was second to none, highly recommend simplynas.
I'm very happy with my TS-1635AX, I have vmware on my servers, hooked up to the build in 10GB ports on the QNAP. I'm running Plex on the QNAP. Would have been nice to run VMs, however, due to the processor, you can only run docker containers.. Not a big deal since I wasn't planning on running an VMs, it would have been a plus.... but for the price.. it's perfect!
