QNAP has finally updated it’s 4-bay NAS offering, whilst the TS-470 PRO still remains the bastion in its armor and has most likely succedded as the best 4-bay NAS in its class, the TS-470 series will be up for the challenge. Pitched as a most likely home and small business NAS the TS-470 Pro, featuring advanced QTS 4.0 operating system, performs as an easy-to-use yet powerful NAS for data backup, file synchronization, remote access and home entertainment. The TS-470 Pro has an excellent hardware design with a powerful Dual-Core 3.3 GHz processor that facilitates high definition media transcoding and the 5.1 channel surround sound with the HD Station via HDMI connection. Building a high-quality home theater is absolutely easy with the TS-470 PRO. It isn’t half bad as for small business either, just get what you need and continue to work with the firmware, despite QNAP insisting that the firmware is not for business!, it still has all the features a small business NAS requires.

The TS-470 PRO is designed with the Intel® Core™ i3-3220 3.3 GHz Dual-core Processor at the heart of it supported by 2GB DDR3 RAM memory installed.

The TS-470 PRO 2 x Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet ports (expandable to 4 x GbE ports or 2 x GbE + 2 x 10GbE ports). The TS-470 PRO features 3 x USB 3.0 and 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI ports for high speed backup to external hard drives. EXT3, EXT4, NTFS, and HFS+ file systems are supported to ensure compatibility with Windows, Mac® OS X, and Linux operating systems.

The splendid user interface and the support for 5.1 channel surround sound audio passthrough*, coupled with the powerful media transcoding capability of the TS-470 Pro, brings smooth playback of Full HD videos providing a quality home theater experience**. You can also turn your mobile devices into remote controls by installing the Qremote app or use MCE remote controls via the built-in IR receiver of the TS-470 Pro.

Supports DLNA and AirPlay for media streaming

You can use DLNA compatible devices, such as HDTVs, Sony PS3, and Microsoft Xbox 360 to stream photos, videos and music stored on the TS-470 Pro. The Qfile mobile app on an iOS device allows you to browse videos and photos stored on the TS-470 Pro and play on a TV via AirPlay-enabled devices such as Apple TV. You can also install QAirplay app, available in the App Center, on the TS-470 Pro to steam your media contents directly on Apple TV, bypassing your mobile device thus saving the energy of your mobile device. The TS-470 Pro is a perfect download center for high speed BT, Magnet, PT (Private Trackers), eMule, FTP, and HTTP downloads. After the download tasks are set ready, you can turn off the computer, and the TS-470 Pro will download as many HD videos as you want. With the QGet utility you can manage your download tasks on multiple NAS devices remotely on the local network or the Internet.

Dropbox-like file synchronization across computers and mobile devices

With Qsync, your TS-470 Pro is turned into a safe data center for file synchronization. Any file uploaded to the TS-470 Pro will be made available for all linked devices, such as computers, laptops and mobile devices. Qsync is especially useful for frequent travelers in managing files and ensuring that different devices have the most up-to-date files. Qsync provides multiple ways of file synchronization and group file sharing, greatly enhancing the flexibility of team projects and collaboration.

QNAP Netbak Replicator supports real-time and scheduled data backup on Windows including Outlook email archiving. The USB port on the front panel of the TS-470 Pro features a one-touch-copy function for you to instantly back up data on external drives to the TS-470 Pro with just one click, or back up data on the TS-470 Pro to the external drives alternatively. Apple Time Machine is also supported to provide Mac OS X users with an effortless solution to back up data to the TS-470 Pro.
